About JEENAR Hotal Glass
Hotaru glass is a type of glass bead. Glass beads are glass beads with holes made using a molding technique called burner work. They have a long history and are said to have been used as accessories by aristocrats in ancient Egypt and ancient Rome.
JEENAR's firefly glass is made by heating an iron core with a flame of nearly 1000℃, wrapping black or white glass rods (glass material) around the base while melting them with a burner, covering it with silver foil, and melting six different colors of blue base glass into it. Each piece can only be made by hand, carefully wrapping it around the iron core. This results in a one-of-a-kind color that shines once in a lifetime. In particular, firefly glass with a white base is a high-quality product that can only be made by skilled and outstanding craftsmen, as it is difficult to control the heat when making it.
The origins of firefly glass
Originally, we had been handling this glass since 1992, but the glass that was called "Hotaru" had a lot of black parts and only had a monotonous color. Then, the president at that time pursued the particularity of blue, After repeated improvements, the current Hotaru Glass with six blue colors was born. We are the only company in the world that sells this combination.
Later, our company (Horsel Ltd.) changed the name to "Hotaru Glass" and continued to produce original products from Okinawa. This was the origin of JEENAR's Hotaru Glass.
Making Firefly Glass
JEENAR's firefly glass is made with outstanding techniques that only experienced Japanese craftsmen can achieve. We insist on using only the glass raw materials made in Japan, and select firefly glass beads of each size in Okinawa into ranks of 4 to 5, and continue to pursue a wide variety of unique designs.
